Stainless Steel Gate Valves for Industrial Applications
A gate valve is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular
disc (the gate, or wedge) out of the path of the fluid, providing a
straight line flow through the valve. Gate valves are designed primarily
to isolate flow and should generally not be used to regulate flow,
because most of the flow change occurs near shut-off where high fluid
velocities can vibrate the gate, causing wear to the gate and seats,
eventually resulting in the gate valve leaking.
